Ted Kramm
Chief Executive Officer

Prior to founding AxelaCare in July 2008, Ted was the Vice President of Operations at US Bioservices, a division of AmerisourceBergen Specialty Group. He has more than 20 years of experience in building successful home infusion and specialty pharmacy companies. Ted is a licensed pharmacist and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy.

 

Kathee Kramm
President

Before co-founding AxelaCare with her husband Ted, Kathee also worked for US Bioservices serving as the Vice President of Sales and Business Development. Like her husband, Kathee also has over 20 years experience in home infusion and has worked hand-in-hand with Ted over the years building successful home infusion and specialty pharmacy companies. Kathee earned a degree in Nursing from the University of Kansas.

 

Dan Buning
Chief Operating Officer

With over 30 years of operational and leadership experience in the US Army, GE, Citigroup and Accretive Health, Dan joined AxelaCare’s growing business in December 2014. Dan, a West Point graduate and certified GE Master Black Belt and Black Belt joins the existing Leadership Team to drive operational excellence and standardize high quality service to support AxelaCare’s rapidly expanding national delivery network. Prior to joining AxelaCare, Dan was Senior Vice President of Operations for Accretive Health, a Chicago based company founded in 2003 with the sole focus of generating significant, sustainable improvements in healthcare provider revenue cycle outcomes. His work included operational leadership in building pre-service centers, new business service offerings and in 2013 P&L Client Delivery Leader for Accretive Health’s largest client.

 

Larry Freni
Chief Financial Officer

Larry, a healthcare veteran with more than 25 years of experience, joined AxelaCare in March 2011 after his CFO position at Jefferson Radiology in Hartford, CT. Larry is a licensed CPA and Chartered Financial Analyst, beginning his career at Deloitte & Touche. Since leaving public accounting, Larry has helped develop and sell several private equity-backed healthcare companies. He has a Masters in Accounting and a MBA from Northeastern University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree from Middlebury College in Vermont.

 

David Maurer

Chief Sales Officer

David joined AxelaCare in July 2013. In his role as CSO, he is responsible for overseeing all sales aspects for AxelaCare. Prior to joining the company, David excelled in multiple sales leadership and training roles with Covidien and Cintas. David is a motivating, hands-on executive who has a track record of successfully building top-notch sales teams. David earned a degree in Business Administration from William Jewell College.

 

Brad Holliday
Chief Human Resources Officer

Brad was Vice President of Human Resources at Goodwill Industries in Colorado Springs prior to joining AxelaCare in April 2011. He has over 20 years experience in Human Resources, advising Boards of Directors and Executive Committees of Fortune 500 companies including SPX Corporation and AdvancePCS Caremark. Brad’s numerous credentials include a MBA with a concentration in Human Resources and Organization Development from Baker University; a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management from Friends University; PHR and CBM certification; and he is a graduate of the acclaimed Advanced Human Resource Executive Program at the University of Michigan.

 

Joe Zavalishin
EVP, Strategic Contracting & Payer Relations

Joe joined AxelaCare in January 2014 and is responsible for driving the managed care strategy while fostering and improving relations with customers. Additionally, he is responsible for leading the contracting efforts with accountable care organizations (ACOs), pharmaceutical manufacturers, health systems, and other related partnerships opportunities. He brings over two decades of management and healthcare experience, having most recently spent nearly 5 years at Walgreens where he was the VP, Contracts & Pricing Development. Prior to that he was VP, Pharmacy Networks for Aetna and also headed up strategy and business development for the PBM. He has also held leadership roles with CIGNA, MetLife, and the Veterans Administration. Joe has bachelor’s degrees in Environmental Health and Industrial Psychology from the University of Connecticut and received his MBA in Finance and Strategy from the Lally School of Management at Rensselaer in Troy, NY.

 

Donald J. Filibeck, PharmD, MBA
Vice President, Pharmacy Operations

Prior to providing operational and clinical pharmacy support to Axelacare’s branch locations as VP of Pharmacy Operations, Dr. Filibeck spent 25 years in the home infusion industry performing a number of different roles ranging from managing branch pharmacies to overseeing large multi-regional operations. He also served as a field representative (surveyor) in the Home Care Program at The Joint Commission (TJC) and is active in multiple professional organizations including the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (as chair and delegate) and the National Home Infusion Association (having served as Chair, Standards Committee). He received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Doctorate of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and his Master of Business Administration degree from Baldwin-Wallace College.

 

Mary Jo Heglund BSN, MBA, RN
Vice President, Nursing

Mary Jo has a Bachelor’s of Nursing from Lewis University and an MBA from North Park University in Chicago. She has over 25 years’ experience in nursing with a focus on cardiology and 17 years’ experience in the alternate site setting, including managing a free standing ambulatory Infusion Center for a suburban Chicago hospital. Mary was the Director of Nursing for OptionCare and the Director of Clinical Services for InfuScience. At Infuscience she built a clinical department for a de novo infusion company that had 7 home infusion pharmacies and 13 ambulatory infusion clinics. She also has consulted with several home infusion companies in the area of heart failure management and Medicare reimbursement.

Mary Jo joined AxelaCare the AxelaCare family through the Sirona infusion acquisition and was appointed as the VP of Nursing in January 2014

 

Michele Hartmann Tamene
Vice President and General Counsel
Chief Compliance Officer

Michele joined the AxelaCare team in September 2013 and serves as the first General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer of the company, responsible for overseeing all legal, compliance and regulatory aspects of the operations of AxelaCare.
Michele has been working in the health care industry for over 26 years, beginning her career and working in numerous roles in the hospital setting while attaining her Bachelor's Degree and Practical Nursing Diploma. 

Michele is a licensed attorney and holds a Juris Doctorate from Saint Louis University School of Law in St. Louis, MO and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City.
She currently serves as a Board Member of the Women's Leadership Council for the American Health Lawyers Association.

 

Shay Fields
Vice President, Procurement & Supply Chain Management

With almost 30 years of operational and leadership experience in the home care alternate site setting, Shay joined the AxelaCare executive team as part of the company’s acquisition of Ambient Healthcare in January 2014. During his 13 years with Ambient, Shay served in various corporate operational, managed care, procurement and business development positions including VP-Business Development and Chief Operating Officer. Prior to Ambient, Shay served 4 years as the President/CEO of Fields & Associates, a full-service home health care/home infusion consulting company providing acquisition advisory services, operational assessments and interim executive level management to various home health care and home infusion companies across the country. Prior to Fields & Associates, Shay served 12 years as Managing Director of Baylor HomeCare, owned by the Baylor Health Care System of Dallas, TX. While at Baylor, Shay led a team from start-up to an integrated home care alternate site company with $50mm in annual revenue of services through multiple Medicare certified home health agencies, a home infusion therapy pharmacy company and a multi-site durable medical equipment company. Shay has a BS and MBA in Business from Louisiana Tech University.

 

Anirvan Mukerjee
Vice President Patient Operations and Process Excellence

Anirvan joined the AxelaCare Leadership Team in August 2015. With over 20 years of operational and global process management experience in GE, Citigroup and Accretive Health, Anirvan joined AxelaCare to drive operational excellence and standardize high quality patient service to support AxelaCare’s rapidly expanding national delivery network. Prior to joining AxelaCare, Anirvan was Vice President of Operations for Accretive Health, a Chicago based company founded in 2003 with the sole focus of generating significant improvements in healthcare provider revenue cycle outcomes. His work included operational leadership in building and delivering the gain share revenue models for all of Accretive Health’s revenue service clients as well as leadership of the multi-country data analytics team. In addition to his MBA, Anirvan is also a certified GE Six Sigma Master Black Belt and Black Belt, as well as a global Change Acceleration coach/trainer.

 

Brendan Beggin
Vice President, Finance

Brendan joined AxelaCare in 2013, bringing more than 25 years of infusion, diagnostic, and medical device experience. After gaining initial infusion industry experience with Caremark and Coram, he was involved in the successful start-up and sale of several private equity backed companies. Brendan then gained extensive experience in overcoming major public health challenges while serving as the Deputy CFO of Cook County which operates one of the largest public hospital systems in the country. Brendan is a licensed CPA and received his MBA and Bachelors in Accounting from Western Illinois University. In his role with AxelaCare, Brendan provides leadership in senior finance, reimbursement, and compliance.
